PremFina - Inspiring women in tech
This International Women's Day, we want to celebrate the inspiring women in tech. As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we continue to ensure that women have a strong voice in our business.
We're proud of the fact that around half of Team PremFina is female, and women make up two-thirds of our senior management team. Our female employees have contributed to the ideation and development of some of our most innovative products, from PremFina’s white-label software to the chat bot, Fina.
Women are an integral part of our business and we have a strong focus on promoting career opportunities for women within PremFina. We believe that it's important to create an inclusive environment, where everyone can feel comfortable working together, regardless of gender or background. At PremFina, we are committed to the recruitment and retention of the best talent. We believe that gender diversity and inclusivity helps us all to achieve our goals.
To inspire women in tech further, we have reached out to women at PremFina for some inspirational words.
Laura Sweetman, COO recalls how much progression has been made over the years: “I am a women working in a senior position in a fintech! Words I never thought I would say when I started my career. I can’t remember there being any strong female leaders in my first role, or any clear focus on tech and its benefits. Fast forward to today, and I am lucky enough to be working in a business where two-thirds of the leadership team are women and, more importantly, the men around us are supportive and there is genuinely no “us and them” - just one group of people driving forward an innovative business. Tech and what it can do for us is the driving force for our business today. It enables us to make PremFina an exciting place for all our employees, delivering solutions for our customers and brokers that will help us to become a market leader.”
Natalie Evans, Chief Legal Risk and Compliance Officer has quoted, “We challenge and question the ways things are done and I am continuously learning from people around me on how technology can help us. For anyone looking for a career in tech, always question the “why”? Don’t just accept the current, embrace change and push yourself beyond your comfort zone.”
Our Director of Strategy, Danielle Medhurst’s, advice to anyone looking to get into tech is “be curious and have a growth-mindset, don’t be afraid to ask the silly question (everyone else is probably thinking it!) and be yourself.”
Padmashri Loganathan, Delivery Lead, Technology, also encourages the industry to not shut people down and listen up. “We lose great ideas from people who don’t speak up because they have been shut down too many times in the past, and not everyone feels confident to speak up for the 11th time again.”
As well as speaking up, rising to challenges, and always staying curious, it’s also important to build a strong professional network. Debbie Ryan, our Head of Marketing, supports this by quoting, “I'd say one of the key considerations for women building a career in tech would be presence: attend industry events; network with people across different roles, companies and sectors in the tech space; and make sure your social media profile is up-to-date. It should accurately represent who you are and where you want to be, and – importantly, be used to keep you up-to-date on the latest thinking that will support your career aspirations. There are some great opportunities out there - in person and online, you just need to find the ones that work for you!”
We are proud to be part of a company that is committed to promoting gender diversity and inclusivity in the workplace. We believe that our employees make us stronger, so we want everyone at PremFina to feel comfortable expressing themselves at work so they can embrace our values in all they do – do what’s right, make a difference and think big.
